Just finished a beautiful project w/ @jasonandrewturner in Fishtown section of Philly. See below for info on the project! • Persistence is an imagined portrait by artist Jason Andrew Turner that was created in collaboration with women at the Lutheran Settlement House (LSH) in 2019. The portrait does not portray an existing person in the present, but rather one deeply inspired by the oral history of long-time community members and the history of LSH. In 1902, LSH was started by women in service to women and families through social, advocacy, and educational services. • Early in the 20th century, the Kensington neighborhood was considered one of the prominent industrial areas in America. This section of Philadelphia was crowded with mills, factories, breweries, and machine shops. As a result, this area of the city became the first stop for thousands of immigrants who used their trades from their home countries to make a new life in America. Lutheran Settlement House became a “home away from home” for thousands of immigrants, assisting women and families through the provision of food and shelter, education, employment counseling and training, and social activities. • Lutheran Settlement House has stood as a pillar for this ever-evolving community since its inception, looking after individuals and engaging in a multigenerational dialogue. It is this quality that Persistence hopes to embody: honoring the past by looking back, and moving forward to embrace the future with dignity and determination.

I have been a fan of @misterhouser work for a very long time – I have still have his skateboard for Designarium from 2006 hangin'! • Back in 2013 the @elixrcoffee art program was just getting started. @misterhouser was just the second artist I ever worked with on the project. I have quite literally been trying to find a way to get Jim a permanent mural in Philadelphia since then. • Six years of showing up at Jim's house telling him that it's happening this year. This summer it finally happened. Jim just completed a patchwork mural at 600 Spring Garden that reflects on his life and career in Philadelphia! Sorry Jim –thanks for hanging in there. • Big thanks to @brianjosephlynch for his awesome work on this project, @artsandcraftsholdings for all the support and for providing us the space, The Philadelphia Historic Commission for approving Jim's mural on a beautiful Old Frank Furness building, and of course @muralarts for their dedication to making this project possible!

@jessieandkatey and I just finished working together on this huge mural at 12th and Spring Garden! I invited them to Philadelphia back in 2018 to respond to a site with a rich textile history dating back to the mid 19th century and early 20th century. •Their work explores themes of movement and symmetry, inspired by bold color combinations, patterns in nature, and woven textiles. •Big thanks @_sam_mas_ and @muralarts Guild Program (Caliph Evans,Tyreeah McCray, Willie Evans, Shaquille Palmer, Kashif Weems, Raphael Arroyo) for their awesome work on this project, @artsandcraftsholdings for all the support and for providing us the space, and of course @muralarts for their dedication to making this project possible! Last but not least thanks to @wefilmphilly for the amazing footage 🎥! •There will be an awesome dedication event in late August – Stay tuned for more on that!

Haven't shared any of my photography here in a while. Here is the beginnings of a series titled A Place For Us. The series explores our connection/disconnection with Mexico and our unity/division of people and the landscape.

New mural @elixrcoffee roastery by @carlajweeks about the Callowhill neighborhood’s industrial past and evolving future. The piece aims to catalog the topography of the neighborhood during a pivotal time of change. • The mural references the forms of three structures, paramount to Callowhill’s rich industrial past: Willow Street Steam Plant (1927), Reading Viaduct (1893), and Esslinger’s Brewery (1935).
