We’re honored that 55 Hudson Yards has won an AIA New York Design Award, recognized with Merit in the Architecture category. The design draws on principles of scale, detail, and material expression, while negotiating the significant constraints of its site above the No. 7 subway station. The winning projects, selected by a jury of independent architects, educators, critics, and planners from outside New York City, will be included in an exhibition at the @CenterforArch opening on April 16. 📷: @connyay#architecture #AIANY #HudsonYards #kohnpedersenfox

KPF’s work at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business combined new construction and renovation over 12 years, implementing a material vocabulary of terracotta, glass, and stone. Here, a screen wall of suspended aluminum fins and laminated glass panels sits 8 inches in front of the existing building’s gray brick façade, complemented by textured red terracotta panels custom-made for the academic building. 📷: @TimGriffithPhoto#terracotta #renovation #facade #architecture #kohnpedersenfox

Earlier this year, we celebrated the start of construction at Huamu Lot 10 in Shanghai. Situated adjacent to the future Shanghai Museum East, the 279,000-square-meter project is anchored by a central plaza that will serve as a key urban connection to the museum and surrounding cultural institutions. #architecture #urbanism #construction #kohnpedersenfox

KPF is committed to delivering healthy, resilient and sustainable projects at a global scale. To address these goals, KPF's Environmental Performance team leverages computational simulation tools to support evidence-based design within our teams. Here, the team developed a parametric modeling workflow to analyze access to daylight, solar exposure, and thermal comfort in multiple massing designs for a recent project in a hot and humid Chinese climate. #sustainabledesign #thermalcomfort #kohnpedersenfox

KPF’s London office has embraced a new medium, turning its focus from the skyline to the sugarscape to participate in #TheGingerbreadCity2019. A team of KPF architects and model makers took part for the first time this year and constructed a confection named the Teacake Hotel. The team explored the potential of new materials: casting faceted sugar glass; pre-fabricating gingerbread facade panels with bespoke, 3D-printed cookie cutters; creating a sweet public realm; and having some fun with candy cane hot tubs and frosting snowballs. The resulting model is good enough to eat. The annual exhibition raises money to support the @MuseumofArchitecture and will be on view at Somerset House through January 5. 📷: Luke O'Donovan #SomersetHouse #London #3Dprinting #kohnpedersenfox

In London’s historic Covent Garden district, contemporary architecture is interwoven with historic buildings of varied styles and materials, creating an environment that feels both new and completely integrated with the surroundings. On Floral Street, pictured, KPF’s Floral Court creates a focal point, completing the long view with a vertical folly inspired by the idea of stacked crates in warehouses of the former fruit and vegetable market. 📷: Brendan Bell #FloralStreet #CoventGarden #kohnpedersenfox
