Sabrina..who? - Project 365 Sabrina, standing at the Octagon on Roosevelt Island overlooking the East River, is a copy of an 1845 plaster piece, inspired by John Milton's poem titled Sabrina Fair, by Scottish sculptor William Calder Marhsall. Marshall cast a bronze version in 1847 and both were exhibited at the Royal Academy. Copies, cast from a mold of 19th century casting found in Vermont by Bruce Becker, can be found scattered around the New York sites of several projects designed by his architecture firm, Becker+Becker. The Roosevelt Island installation is the first casting made of solid bronze.#nycphotos #nyc_explorer #photonyc #icapturenyc #nyconline #travelnyc #nycprimeshots #streetphotographynyc #discovernewyork #nycphotography #newyorkcityinstagram #nycstreets #nycphoto #streetsofnyc #onlinenewyork #nycstreetshots #cityofnewyork #beatiful_manhattan #instgramny #nycexplorers #nycstreetphotographer #nycstreetphoto #likenewyorkcity #nyclives #online_newyork #newyorkcityphoto #streetphotos #rooseveltisland #bronzesculpture

Sandy Hook Lighthouse - Project 365The Sandy Hook Lighthouse is the oldest operating lighthouse in the United States. It is located at the northern end of the Sandy Hook Unit of Gateway National Recreation Area in Highlands. Amazingly well-preserved, this unique octagonal tower dates back to the 18th century and has been in service since 1764. Except for being darkened during the Civil War, Spanish-American War, World War I and II, the beacon has been operating ever since.#lighthouses #sandyhook #njsites #nps #coastguard #sandyhooklighthouse #gatewaynationalpark #njparks #merchantnavy #nautical #uslighthousesociety #urbanphotograpgy #newjerseyseashore #lighthouse_lovers #lighthouselovers #landmarks #historicnj

Western Tanager Audubon Mural Project by Yu-baba, 3768 Broadway, New York, NY Project 365This sunny species is common to the pine forests of western North America. Audubon's climate model predicts a 70 percent loss of its current summer range by 2080. The model also identifies a large vacant section of eastern and central Canada vacated as suitable climate for the species. Predicting the Western Tanager’s future is complicated by potential interbreeding and competition with the closely related Scarlet Tanager. #streetart #nyc #newyorkcity #buildingwallart #graffitiart #streetartists #nyc_explorer #nyctraveler #modernartist #manhattan #brooklyn #williamsburg #nycart #arthighschool #nycstreetphotographer #nycstreets #nycphoto #icapturenyc #newyorkcityinstagram #buildingmurals #nyctraveler #audobon #birdmurals

The Blackwell Island Lighthouse -Project 365 This is a mysterious 50 foot remnant of Roosevelt Island’s distant past. Before the slender East River island came to be owned by the city in the 1920s, it was owned by the Blackwell family and hence bore the family name. The lighthouse was commissioned by the city, not the Coast Guard, in 1872. The private tower was meant to help illuminate the New York City Insane Asylum for incoming boats. James Renwick, Jr., the architect of the island’s nearby Smallpox Hospital (which still stands in ruins) and St. Patrick’s Cathedral, designed the tower and it is likely that patients were used for labor.#nycphotos #nyc_explorer #photonyc #icapturenyc #nyconline #travelnyc #nycprimeshots #streetphotographynyc #discovernewyork #nycphotography #icapturenyc #newyorkcityinstagram #nycstreets #nycphoto #mynyc #streetsofnyc #onlinenewyork #nycstreetshots #cityofnewyork #beatiful_manhattan #instgramny #nycexplorers #nycstreetphotographer #nycstreetphoto #likenewyorkcity #nyclives #online_newyork #newyorkcityphoto #streetphotos

Hooded Warbler Audubon Mural Project by GERALUZ, 522 W. 147th St., New York, NY . Project 365Painted: 10/10/2017Climate Threat: These bright wood warblers are often found in the leafy understory of Southeast forests, where they flash their white outer tail feathers from time to time. But climate change may dry out the moist habitats these birds enjoy: Audubon's models predict there will be a 63 percent loss in the Hooded Warbler's current summer range by 2080.#streetart #nyc #newyorkcity #buildingwallart #graffitiart #streetartists #nyc_explorer #nyctraveler #modernartist #manhattan #brooklyn #williamsburg #nycart #arthighschool #nycstreetphotographer #nycstreets #nycphoto #icapturenyc #newyorkcityinstagram #buildingmurals #nyctraveler #audobon #birdmurals

The Jewish Gate? That's what the small sign says on the gate to Trinity Church Cemetery and Mausoleum on Broadway & W153 St. This was done to accommodate NYC's former mayor Ed Koch to be buried at this Episcopalian cemetery. Pinyon Jay Audubon Mural Project by Mary LacyProject 365 3668 Broadway, New York, NY Painted: 10/24/16This sky-blue jay is one of the most specialized birds in the United States and Canada. Its entire life is tied to the availability of conifer trees, specifically pinyon seeds. Audubon's climate model predicts that its suitable climate space will withdraw in both summer and winter, contracting further into the Intermountain West.#streetart #nyc #newyorkcity #buildingwallart #graffitiart #streetartists #nyc_explorer #nyctraveler #modernartist #manhattan #brooklyn #williamsburg #nycart #arthighschool #nycstreetphotographer #nycstreets #nycphoto #icapturenyc #newyorkcityinstagram #buildingmurals #nyctraveler #audobon #birdmurals

Endangered Harlem - Project 365 - Audubon Mural Project byGaia1883, 1885, and 1887 Amsterdam, New York, NY Mural was completed 10/29/2015. Climate Threat: Passerines, more commonly known as songbirds, comprise the majority of the climate-threated species in Audubon's Birds and Climate Change Report. The Magnolia Warbler is expected to lose 91 percent of its summer range by 2080, according to Audubon's climate models. The Scarlet Tanager could see 26 percent decrease in its current summer range, and the Tree Swallow, 61 percent. And only 17 percent of the Black-and-white Warbler's summer range could remain stable.#streetart #nyc #newyorkcity #buildingwallart #graffitiart #streetartists #nyc_explorer #nyctraveler #modernartist #manhattan #brooklyn #williamsburg #nycart #arthighschool #nycstreetphotographer #nycstreets #nycphoto #icapturenyc #newyorkcityinstagram #buildingmurals #nyctraveler #audobon #birdmurals

Non Scented - Depew Place came into existence along with Vanderbilt Avenue in 1874 when the first Grand Central Depot was constructed on 42nd Street and Park Avenue in 1874. Depew Place, was named for an obscurer figure, Chauncey M. Depew (1834-1928) New York Secretary of State and President of the New York Central Railroad. Today the alley is used only by Post Office trucks and leads to loading docks behind the Grand Central Post Office at 450 Lexington Avenue, constructed in 1909 and topped off by a 38-story office building in 1992. #nycphotos #nyc_explorer #photonyc #icapturenyc #nyconline #travelnyc #nycprimeshots #streetphotographynyc #discovernewyork #nycphotography #icapturenyc #newyorkcityinstagram #nycstreets #nycphoto #mynyc #streetsofnyc #onlinenewyork #nycstreetshots #cityofnewyork #beatiful_manhattan #instgramny #nycexplorers #nycstreetphotographer #nycstreetphoto #likenewyorkcity #nyclives #online_newyork #newyorkcityphoto #streetphotos
