One of the many reasons that I do what I do is because I have a deep desire to give back to the beautiful community and mountains that were my escape during my darkest of midnights and continued to be my source of joy when the storm was over.
I may not have an overflowing bank account to give monetary donations like I wish I could to the organizations that I support, but the reason that I have been given the gifts that I have - is because I am meant to share them.
Time after time I have thought and said to others that one of the most comforting feelings to me when I’m in our Smokies is that I know without a doubt that if the day ever comes when I am injured or lost in the hills and I find myself in a position where I am filled with fear and uncertainty - I can be sure of one thing... Search and rescue teams, including my friends at @teambusar, will be doing everything they can to find and/or help me. Regardless of the time of day, the difficulty of terrain, the weather or even the final outcome... They will be pouring their heart, knowledge, skills and energy into bringing me home.
Not just me (obviously) but anyone that finds themselves in that position in the @greatsmokynps .
With that said, the first image in this post is one of my best from 2019 and it is sunrise from the Oconaluftee Valley overlook in the Smokies.
Starting today, anyone that makes a $25 donation or above to Team BUSAR and sends a screenshot/receipt to me at firstname.lastname@example.org will receive an email reply with a full resolution file of this sunrise. 💛 You can print it, have a canvas made, make a coffee cup, a magnet, beach towel, greeting cards, a puzzle, etc. *Your donation is also tax deductible!
This is just one of the many ways that I plan to give back this year and support amazing organizations doing great things!
I hope you’ll join me! 💛 (* All images of Team Busar in this post are property of Team Busar)
