Day 88——————————————How was your Christmas? 🌾🎄 ——————————————Let me begin by wishing all who celebrate a very merry, very belated Christmas! Apologies for the similarly late post, I was busy drinking eggnog to forget—I mean, spending time with family and enjoying a holiday of cheer. This wheat, however, might be the most poignant present of all. Covered under a light blanket of snow, this frigid field is perfectly apt to enjoy at during the gift-giving season. This wheat appears under an icy blue sky, heavily weighed upon by a dusting of powder—its outline and trademark shape barely visible amongst the flurry that has settled upon it. Equally snowy is the tree to its right, dark in color, bold against the vivid white of this winter wonderland. Its branches are curvaceous and intricate, conjuring up images of reindeer horns (shameless shoutout to my prior post) or the fractal shapes appearing on every delicate snowflake falling gracefully from the skies above. Most crucial to this scene, however, is the dense hay bale sitting proud in the center of this image. Harvested grain is tightly bound into this spiral of surprise, creating a bundle of dense wheat lying rotund and magnificent in the center of this scene. Like an oversized present simply waiting to be torn into and unwrapped, this wheat harbors mystery and fortune untold within the bounds of its cylindrical figure. I would advise against picking up this bushel and shaking it to figure out what could be inside—if that would even be possible—for it’s quite wonderfully weighty. I rate this wintry wheat a 9.6/10.

**** NEW WEBSITE COMING SOON **** The reason it’s going to be really good is that I have had almost nothing to do with it. I’ve been hassling @codyscapes to build me a proper site for years because he’s smart as hell and brilliantly creative. I think I finally wore him down and he has decided to start his own website building and design business using my site to build the architecture. He’s been working his ass off on it for months, and I can’t wait to share the finished product, which should be soon! Since the last story had literally nothing to do with the image, I’ll at least share the goings on here. Cody and I met at Hood and frantically tried to find a place where the mountain wasn’t totally socked in. This area was out last hope, but when we got here it was just a sea of fog. We snowshoed around blindly for a bit and finally reconvened to set up a shot.... just in case. Lo and behold, the mountain started to loom out of the fog and I frantically started to shoot. Cody, instead of shooting announced “I lost my phone somewhere out there” and looked forlorn. Dejected (and mildly panicked), he packed off in general area he thought it might be. I, being the stand up friend that I am, did exactly nothing to help and merrily shot this image. When I got home, @courtney.morgan18 (with a healthy dose of disgust I might add) said: “You mean you didn’t help him go look for it??” “No”, I replied, “but I DID get about 40 shots of him stuck up to his ass in a snow drift!” So a good day all around then! In all seriousness, I absolutely love the kid, and am blown away by the incredible work he has done on my behalf. I can’t wait to go live with the site and help him launch his web building business. 🤜🏻🤛🏻
