How often should I work my core? I get asked this question a lot!.Why is it SO important to keep your midsection of abdominals, obliques, lower back & pelvic area (aka “core”) strong? These are stabilizer muscles which help support everything we do! A weak core affects your balance, posture & day to day movement and can also cause/aggravate back pain,  and contribute to a variety of muscle injuries..If you workout regularly(especially with me), many exercises we do have some sort of balance/core work involved, however, aim for an additional 2-3x per week of core-focused exercises at the end of your workout. Be sure to challenge your body and switch it up!.Here are 5 moves you may not usually have in your routine, using the Abdominal Ball. These should take 5-7 minutes, depending on how many sets you can get through. mattiemooves Especially after kids, I tend to focus more on total body and get my core work there! Crunches don’t do it for me anymore 💙

thesweatymomsquad @mattiemooves agree! Most core work I do is more functional or from other exercises like pushups or balance movements. I’ll throw in something like this at the end of teaching a class now and then. People love that “ab burn”!

My therapist told me I was living in the shadows and needed to find balance. ⠀⠀Ouch. That stung... a lot. ⠀⠀But, it was the truth. And it was truth that I really DID know deep down, but needed it to be brought to light. ⠀⠀If you don’t know this about me, I suffered for YEARS from an binge eating disorder, depression, and major anxiety.⠀⠀When I started getting really into health & fitness, I would drive myself CRAZY over tracking macros, counting calories, counting points, planning, planning again, measuring, and the guilt.. oh the guilt... you get the point...⠀⠀It was DRAINING. ⠀⠀And because of that... I let other situations and things in my life drain me as well. ⠀⠀When my therapist told me it seemed like I was “living in the shadows” I had to do a lot of thinking about it. ⠀⠀To me... it was more like those “shadows” were chains. Chains I just could not break.. and only seemed to be getting tighter. ⠀⠀I was missing something... but, what??⠀⠀It took some time for me to figure out what I needed to do & how to find that balance that had once seemed so unrealistic and far away. ⠀⠀I can’t tell you how to create the balance that YOU need in your life. But, I can help you find it. ⠀⠀And, girl... when you do find that balance & are no longer chained down by food, emotions, depression, anxiety, fear, or uncontrollable situations.... it’s the best damn feeling in the world. ✌🏼⠀⠀I’m here girl... let me help you break free of those chains. START 🟢JustStart!!!!When I first started training (left side) I was 115 pounds of just skinny flabby fat with zero strength.Lol I couldn’t even do laterals with 5LB dumbbells for 1 Rep Max.I was doing awesome for a year.I fell off the following year binge eating, my diet was better but worse than before I started.I hurt my back and it kept me off heavy leg workouts for a good minute.I began to watch my diet and worked out. I kept going.I’m 124 right now and at the right balance. I enjoy my training, my food!!!!OMG my food!!!And though I am carrying a little fat. Emmmmmm.....I love it because the body compensation is way different than where it was before.Keep going no matter the task, there is always mountains that you need to climb. There will always be obstacles that get in the way.The thing is you have to START 🟢 before you can even see results and change.

You have no one to work out with, but 5 others, who will be completing the same workout, are expecting you to do it.⠀⠀I would assume most of you would say B because accountability works! THE WORK BEHIND WELLNESSEvery day I make choices which either support me, or don’t... and that is the game of wellness.Some days I run out of time, and other days I just don’t commit, so things fall by the wayside.That is life though right?Some people I follow here in Instaland appear to make time every day for the perfect life and make it look easy and even glamorous. Well that is not the case with me.Some days I get everything in and some days not.  In my humble opinion, this is balanced living.Good health, wellbeing, and a balanced life encompass so very many things and it would be impossible (even if you were not working) to do them all every day.  So we have to tune in and see what takes priority.  Does my physical body need more activation or something nurturing? Have I been sitting a lot today and need some stretching? Did I drink enough water yesterday?  How do I feel emotionally? What is triggering me? What MUST be done today?All these things come into consideration for me when I live my day to day wellness routines. Be Gentle with Yourself. Something I need to remind myself going into the work week today. Last week was brutal, I overdid it, and almost burnt myself out. I honestly love my job but it’s been so crazy busy and I feel like I need to get everything done as fast as possible. I beat myself up if I can’t get to everything in one day or if my work isn’t perfect. This isn’t healthy. This week I’m going to focus on my therapist’s, dad’s, and fiancé’s advice...slow down, do what I can during the work day, ask for help if I need it (I struggle with this so bad), and make time for myself. I’m not going to work until 10:15 pm or skip meals or my workouts. I mostly post workout checkins and uplifting quotes but I also want to be completely honest in my posts. Ingredients:•1 + 1/2 cups all purpose flour•1 + 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice•1 + 1/2 tsp baking powder•1/2 tsp baking soda •1/4 tsp salt•1/3 cup oil •1/2 cup white sugar•1/2 cup brown sugar•2 large eggs•1 tsp vanilla extract•1cup canned pumpkin •1 cup dark chocolate chipsInstructions:•Preheat oven time 350•Grease & flour 9x5 pan•Whisk flour, pumpkin pie spice, baking powder, baking soda, & salt.•In a separate bowl, whisk together oil and sugars until smooth, then whisk in eggs and vanilla.•Stir in the pumpkin.•Fold the flour mixture into the pumpkin mixture, then gently fold in the chocolate chips. I broke the cycle...and I feel better today than I have in weeks!! Here’s the thing. When a life event happens, it’s easy to get off track. It’s easy to say “It’s been a busy day, let’s just eat out tonight.”.Or, “I’ll do my workout in the morning”(and it never gets done)..“We’ll do better tomorrow” becomes a part of daily conversation.I TRULY feel like I needed the experience of not having a kitchen for 3.5 months to serve you all better as a trainer and nutrition coach. Eating out a couple times per week (like we did pre-kitchen disaster) is not going to hurt you, especially if you’re exercising regularly.HOWEVER, when you’re eating out 5-7 times per week (like we have been in month 3 of kitchen disaster), it is next to IMPOSSIBLE to maintain your weight, your energy to exercise, and your health.I train appx 6 hours a week and I could NOT maintain my weight or my muscle after 2 months of eating out more than we ate in.The struggle is REAL, and I understand it more than ever now! Lucky for me, I knew there was an end in sight, and I also know exactly how to get myself back on track.If you’re in this cycle and you can’t seem to fix it, pleaaaase stop scrolling Pinterest to try to piece together recipes and workouts meant for other people, and hire a professional to put a custom program together for YOU and YOUR goals.💪🏼😘.#certifiedhealthcoach #healthgoals #breakthecycle

I had two choices this morning... sulk about my food choices over the weekend and stay in bed and carry on that eating path or get up and exercise and start the week off right. The latter won, of course! It was a ‘bad’ weekend not a bad ‘life’. I have learned so much so far that I need to share!!⁣⁣I wasn’t really afraid to start this whole coaching thing if I’m being totally honest. ⁣But I have heard people say that they are afraid to start because of the POSSIBLE judgments from other people. ⁣⁣So here’s how I can hopefully help you out..⁣⁣✨You’re afraid of sharing something that quite possibly has the ability to change your entire life...but hold back bc of the possible scenario where your “friend” will tell another “friend” what you’re doing is weird. Say that out loud. “I’m willing to hold myself back from my dreams bc of someone else’s words or thoughts”..🤯 ⁣⁣✨Other people’s opinions about you shouldn’t matter. The only major opinion that matters here is God’s opinion about you. Let Him guide you... ⁣⁣✨ In a world where so many people are worried about what others may think or say about them, be the person who focuses on your journey/destination & not worrying about what people have to say. Instead, leaving it all to God & he will handle every single situation. “Let go & let God” 🙏🏼 ⁣⁣✨So many people worry about being judged themselves that they won’t even have time to judge you. ⁣⁣✨However; if sally judges you...it says more about sally than it even will ever say about you. ⁣⁣With that being said, let God plan your life according to His will. Hard truth! You can't change your partner or anyone else for that matter. This is not because they don't want to change, or don't want a great relationship. It's because it is human nature to resist when they feel pushed or forced into doing something! If you want your partner to change, start by accepting them for who they are. People can change only if they feel that they are liked and accepted the way they are. Have you noticed the harder you try to change your partner, the harder they resist? When people feel criticized, disliked, and unappreciated, they resist change. Today was a good day but it was l. o. n. g. so so so glad I’m back to meal prepping because I had zero energy to cook✌🏼 —— This week’s menu: Breakfast: egg, avocado, and spinach sandwiches Lunch: berry salad with walnuts & tomato basil chicken Dinner: Spicy Turkey Chili for half & chicken sausage and zucchini/squash for half (Cucumbers and hummus for snacks if I need it☺️) —— Comment what looks good & I’ll post the recipe!👍🏼

R E M A I N  U P R I G H T➡️ this was today’s title for my devotional. “A righteous man falls seven times, and rises again, but the wicked stumble in time of calamity” Proverbs 24:16. .Whatever it is you are going through, know that God will not let you fall. If you put your  TRUST in Him, I am 100% sure He will always come through no matter what because that’s how amazing my God is. Even when there are times when you are probably still standing but feeling very wobbly, & you decide to keep on pushing through no matter the situation you’re facing, you remain upright✨ .This really reminds me how I can sometimes trip, stumble, and even fall flat on my face but knowing that God will never give up on me is such a wonderful feeling that I can’t even explain it. His endless patience, support & love towards me blows my mind away.❤️ .In this same way, I can relate this to our fitness journey. We could start off so strong but then in the middle of the journey we stumble, we start to feel guilty & decide to give up. But let me tell you something, sometimes it is needed to have someone to push you, encourage you, motivate you, support you & pray for you through it all!!! .If this is something you really want to have on your fitness journey send me a message & we can talk some more! Today’s advice is balance.  Not the physical balance although that is always a good thing to work on, it’s about balance of energies.  This morning I busted out the high energy sweat flinging x3 MMX routine!  It was amazing!  Then afterwards I calmed my brain down and did some meditation, saying my affirmations, what I’m grateful for, and ensuring that I am in complete control of how I handle the day.  Life is about balance.  Don’t let yours get too out of whack.
