A couple posts ago I wrote a very long caption detailing a recent creative block and how I overcame it. Even though I didn't prove it as of yet by showing you new work, that wasn't a lie. It just takes a while for these things to completely resolve. I thought about how to use Instagram going forward for a long time and pretty often, too. Maybe more than I should have since I came to a conclusion that seems quite obvious: it doesn't actually matter. And that is precisely why from now on I will share whatever I like on here. I remember the "good old days": my feed was clean, white and minimal. It's not that I don't like the aesthetic anymore but let's be honest: I kept it consistent because it worked. I never strayed far from what I then presumed to be my style. It was what people expected, so it brought the attention that I admittedly craved. Attention which enabled me a brief stint in the outskirts of a world I quickly realized was no place for me. My whole thought process does not fit in a caption. For such purposes I will revive my blog next year. Just know that I arrived at the end of a strange internal journey and this is my way of saying: "Hey, I'm back for good!" Furthermore, these photos are actually a good indication of what's to come. Even though I didn't even take most of them as they show me. Thanks for this and all the other support goes to Sava (@thisissava), of course. But yeah. It's gonna get dark, it will be more personal, it won't always show happy times, rather I'd like to incorporate issues that are important to me into my work and share all my experiments with you. Just bought a medium format camera, for instance. Maybe one day I'll even manage to focus properly with it, who knows? So, wow, okay. That got very long once again. Anyway, it would mean a ton to me if you stayed with me during this new chapter. See you around! Regularly now.

Cold + quiet rainy days like today are definitely a favorite. ☁️✨ . Y’all. Christmas is 14 days away. What! I’m so pumped but also have so much to do before then! If time could stop for a sec so I can catch up that would be great hehe 🙈 Are you ready for Christmas or are you scrambling around trying to get stuff done like me? 🎄😆
Swipe Left for the full photo: Arising From a Watery Domain: Tufas emerge from a lake bed in California. The challenge here is find locations where you can get both water and tufas in the same photo. The tufas originally formed beneath the lake bed, but many have been exposed from the lake receding over time. The lake is one of the oldest lakes on earth. Anyway, the tufas are predominately on the south shore and the Milky Way is to the south, so it can be a challenge at times to get tufas with water in front of them. As the water rises and recedes the compositions change over time. ___________________________________________ 18 light frames and one dark frame stacked in Starry Landscape Stacker. 14-24 mm lens, 17 mm, 30 sec., ISO 12,800. I would normally use about 20-25 sec. for this focal length so 30 sec is a longer exposure than normal for me. Oops! Still worked out ok. Using a high ISO is no issue if you stack enough photos. My default number is 16 images. I judge exposure based on the histogram. A better exposure will help to bring out some shadow detail even at night but you have to be careful not to overexpose the Milky Way and stars. ___________________________________________ Low Level Lightening (LLL) used the light the tufas. I’m this case the LLL was done with a single Goal Zero Micro Lantern gently placed on a small tufa about 30 feet, 10 meters away. I would prefer a more distant light source but the location was constrained by water and tufas.
