Controversy. International intrigue. Espionage. Maybe not espionage but it sounds good. The Aviation is a cocktail with a story. And it’s history can be traced back more than 100 years to Hugo Ensslin’s 1916 cocktail recipe book. The intrigue is the result of a debate: was crème de violette in the original recipe? I’m voting, yes. I’m also voting for Pedro..The Aviation Cocktail* 2 oz gin * ½–¾ oz fresh lemon juice* ¼ oz maraschino liqueur (Luxardo)* ¼ oz crème de violette (Rothman & Winter)Shake with ice, strain into a well-chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with brandied cherry. Next post: I’ll explain the amazing garnish at the bottom of the glass..#theaviation #foodiestuff #tamingjumanji #voteforpedro #crèmedeviolette #luxardo #classiccocktails #cocktailchemistrylab #cocktailscience #theaviator #akronblimps #nofilter

I’m starting to get cooking questions the way I get art questions, which is great! I’m glad I’m at least somewhat entertaining you guys with this. Because that’s what Instagram was lacking: pictures of other people’s dinner. Anyway. “Where did you learn how to do that/where do you get your ideas?” A lifetime of cooking. My mom. My brother. Countless cookbooks. *Countless* videos on YouTube. But if can lead you to four current sources, it’s these creative geniuses:..Janice Poon @janicepoon.official - the brilliant mind behind the Hannibal TV series food stylings...Alexis (Alex) Gabriel @frenchguycooking - French Guy Cooking on YouTube. Master of the culinary DIY...Andrew Rea @bingingwithbabish - Binging With Babish on YouTube. Great basics instruction as well as movie/TV dish recreations...Nick Fisher @cocktailchemistry - Cocktail Chemistry on YouTube. Similar to Babish, great instruction of basics to advanced techniques, as well as film and TV recreations of cocktails...Respect.... #janicepoon #hannibal #fannibal #frenchguycooking #spreaditlikebutter #bingingwithbabish #cocktailchemistry #cocktailchemistrylab #cooking #mixology #teachers #inspiration
