Do you need to be more selfish or selfless? Here’s some perspective. We could describe a selfish person as one who is self-assured, clear about one’s goals, conscious of oneself, speaks up for oneself, and knows what one needs to do to be successful. He or she begins each day with a clear-cut list of what has to be done and how it could be accomplished. In a world like today's, without being selfish and taking care of ourselves, we can’t stand anywhere for ourselves. In a society that deems selflessness as the ultimate form of kindness, we often allow our personal well-being to suffer in order to put others needs before our own, but what we need to realize is that it's necessary to be selfish and take care of ourselves first. How else will we be able to be selfless? It works the same way with selflessness. Being selfless opens the world to a person. The more giving one becomes, the more one understands people who are different from one's self. The heart and mind become more open, rather than the tunnel vision selfishness can bring. When you’re selfless, you embrace and care for others. If you embrace and care for others, you understand and appreciate yourself......#selfishquotes #beyondtheinterview #selflessquotes #greatadvice #worldstar #wshh #bestadvice #businessadvice #lifeadvice #mondaymotivation #haters #struggle #challenge #motivationalquotes #lovequotes #motivation #inspirationalquotes #quoteoftheday #quote #quotestoliveby #inspiration #quotesaboutlife #business #entrepreneur #marketing #success #motivation #soundcloud #womensupportingwomen

Where are your tax dollars really going? Do we want corporate welfare more than we want social welfare? Economic development all across the country is getting less open — and both Democrats and Republicans are doing it. In fact, in many cases, the politicians themselves aren’t even the ones negotiating for the public. When corporations get special handouts from the government, we have to pay more in taxes to make up for these hidden tax breaks, subsidies, and loopholes. Every year, states and local governments give economic-development incentives to companies to the tune of between $45 billion and $80 billion. Why such a wide range? It’s not sloppy research; it’s because many of these subsidies are not public. For the known subsidies, such as Maryland’s recent $8.5 billion incentive bid for Amazon’s second headquarters, the support includes cash grants for company relocations, subsidized land, forgiving company taxes on everything from property taxes to sales taxes and investments in infrastructure for the company. Maryland is even offering to give 5.75 percent of each worker’s salary back to the company, which is the maximum state income tax rate for individuals. Employees will pay taxes that will be routed back to Amazon.....#beyondtheinterview #Taxes #Corporatewelfare #Corporateloopholes #amazon #taxbreaks #socialismquotes #communism #capitalismquotes #meme #politics #revolution #communist #socialwelfare #conservative #liberal #trump #maga #marxism #bernie #memes #republican #socialist #berniesanders #foodstamps #anarchism #anticapitalism #bigbusiness #corporatesubsidies

In what setting do you feel like an outsider? ✍🏼 “You can’t sit with us.” Unfortunately, many of us experience social rejection at various times in our lives. This is often true in the case of highly intelligent people and deep thinkers, given the superficiality of today’s society. It is part of human nature to find it difficult to accept those who are different from us.This can mean that you may be rejected by those who don’t share the same beliefs and outlook on life as you. This can be particularly painful if the people who misunderstand you are your family.Clearly, a sense of meaning is very important to us. And if a sense of belonging can increase that, then it is something worth building. One way to increase sense of belonging. If you follow your interests and join groups with similar ones, you are more likely to find people like you. [Album: Twitter Wars]: Does this tweet warrant this much backlash?! #KidRock, now 48, blasted Taylor Swift on Twitter for being a Democrat and claimed she leans left in order to further her aspiring movie career. “Taylor Swift wants to be a democrat because she wants to be in movies….period. And it looks like she will suck the door knob off Hollyweird to get there,” he wrote. “Oldest move in the book. Good luck girl.” Swift, 29, is set to appear in the film version of “Cats” out later this year. It’s unclear what prompted the tweet, though in her Vogue cover story released on Thursday, she discussed her increasing interest in politics and using her voice to effect change. In June, Swift also publicly posted a letter to Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) asking him to vote yes on the federal Equality Act, which would amend the Civil Rights Act to outlaw discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation. The letter also denounced Trump for not supporting the legislation. “I personally reject the president’s stance,” Swift wrote. Swift hasn’t responded to Rock’s tweet. . . . #beyondtheinterview #JoeDirt #TaylorSwift #ChrisDelia #trumpsupporter #maleprivilege #socialismquotes #communism #capitalismquotes #meme #politics #revolution #communist #stalin #conservative #liberal #trump #maga #marxism #bernie #memes #republican #socialist #berniesanders #marx #anarchism #anticapitalism #wshh #whitemaleprivilege

[Album: Articles]: Anyone know anything about shrooms or ‘microdosing’? Mendes isn’t the first celebrity to express interest in shrooms. In fact, many have already taken them. Twenty-nineteen could be the Year of the Magic Mushroom. In Colorado and Oregon, and Denver, residents just passed an initiative to decriminalize magic mushrooms—the first of its kind—in their city. Research has begun on the drug, and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has registered its interest. Johns Hopkins University made headlines when they recommended that the FDA reclassify psilocybin as a Schedule IV drug, alongside drugs like Xanax and Tramadol that have a low risk for abuse. Shrooms have the potential to aid in the treatment of depression, eating disorders and addiction, but the study of psychedelics and their applications in medicine and psychology is still in its infancy, hampered by its Schedule I Narcotics status and the United States' War on Drugs. However, shrooms have shown promise in combination with psychotherapy. Psychedelic use, including psilocybin, can produce spiritual benefits similar to meditation or other mystical experiences though comparing subjective effects isn't easily quantifiable. . . #beyondtheinterview #shawnmendes #mendesarmy #mendes #camilacabello #shawnmendesthetour #microdosing #shawnmendesedits #shawnmendesquotes #psilocybin #psychedelics #psychedelic #joerogan #psilocybinmushrooms #fungi #depressiontreatment #lsd #mycology #psychedelicart #mushroom #fungus #mushroomhunting #acid #esketamine #magicmushrooms #shroomtrip #mushroomspotting #mushroomlove #fantasticfungi #psy

[Album: Attachment styles]: 😂💯% What’s your attachment style tho?! (Swipe for descriptions). Attachment refers the particular way in which you relate to other people. Your style of attachment was formed at the very beginning of your life, during your first two years.  Once established, it is a style that stays with you and plays out today in how you relate in intimate relationships and in how you parent your children. Understanding your style of attachment is helpful because it offers you insight into how you felt and developed in your childhood. It also clarifies ways that you are emotionally limited as an adult and what you need to change to improve your close relationships and your relationship with your own children. According to Dr. Lisa Firestone, “One of the proven ways to change our attachment style is by forming an attachment with someone who had a more secure attachment style than what we’ve experienced.” . . #beyondtheinterview #therapist #therapy #mentalhealth #counseling #psychology #mentalhealthawareness #Jaboukie #attachmentquotes #attachmenttheory #wshh #selfcare #healingquotes #psychologist #counselor #worldstar #anxiety #healing #selflove #comedian #relationshipquotes #therapistsnearme #bestadvice #comedyclips #standupcomic #mondaymotivation #funnymemes #onlinetherapy #funnytweets

[Album: Life Advice]: What’s one reason you’ve ended a close friendship? Depending on the degree of damage done, just one toxic relationship has the potential to cause a life-long scar and lead to emotional or psychiatric problems in the future. If you notice a trend of toxicity in your relationship/friendship history, you may need to pay some attention to your patterns. Being through several toxic relationships leaves us feeling like victims but the truth is; despite the fact that you might have come in contact with some really bad and unhealthy people, one constant variable in all those relationships was you. There might have been a part you unwillingly played in that cycle which you will discover if you think deeply enough. Are you overly nice and compliant? Are you a people pleaser? Until they are addressed, these traits might keep attracting toxic and controlling people to you. Also, if you continually base your self-assessment and value on your social standing, societal expectations and other external variables, you will often feel inadequate and therefore permit others to feed off your weaknesses. . . . #beyondtheinterview #JayShetty #garyvee #warrenbuffet #wshh #princeea #jayshettyquotes #garyvaynerchuk #entrepreneur #entrepreneurship #breakupadvice #inspirationalquotes #friendshipquotes #inspire #positivequotes #tonyrobbins #robinsharma #mindset #millionaire #worldstar #power #mayaangelou #successwords #lifestyle #bestadvice #enterpreneur #progress #bestrelationshipadvice #positivewords #tonystark

[Album: quotes]: Are we still slut shaming in 2019? And why? After the Bachelorette’s Hannah Brown reacted to one of her suitors on the show who was curious how many men she’s been with, she responded with “I’ve had sex and Jesus still loves me.” The exchange sparked a conversation about sex positivity and "slut shaming." Brown tells NPR she's received a lot of support — as well as a lot of criticism. "I'm excited to be able to use my platform to continue talking to people about these topics that I had to deal with on national television," she says. . . . #beyondtheinterview #bachelorette #hannahbrown #alabamahannah #selfcare #jesuslovesyou #loveyourself #selfesteem #bachelornation #selfawareness #mentalhealth #wshh #sexuality #relationshipgoals #confidence #faith #lifequotes #worldstar #selfacceptance #selfconfidence #selfrespect #positivevibes #guilt #guiltquotes #empowerment #sexpositivity #knowyourworth #slutshaming #mindbodysoul #goals

Do you worry about your rep? How much do you let other people’s opinions affect you? For the most-part, people try to be good. We try to be our best selves and move through life without hurting anyone. But the truth – the hard truth – is that we are all bad in someone’s story. How can that be, you ask? Regardless of how much we do to help others, be there for others, and take care of the world, we do leave other marks. The things that we do in a split second can leave a positive impression or a negative one. Do you have memories of talking about a classmate behind their back when you were in school or putting the blame for something on someone else so you wouldn’t get in trouble? We’ve all done things that aren’t ideal and we will continue to do them, whether we intend to or not. Aim for higher and give yourself a break. Let your experiences be a better influence on others. Tell your kids/friends/family what may have happened when you were in school. Tell them how you feel badly that a friend heard about you gossiping and it has always stuck with you. Try to convey that you want to do better and you hope they can as well....#beyondtheinterview #reputation #selfworth #selflove #selfcare #love #loveyourself #selfesteem #motivation #selfawareness #mentalhealth #healing #mindfulness #relationshipgoals #confidence #happiness #lifequotes #inspiration #selfacceptance #selfconfidence #selfrespect #positivevibes #guilt #guiltquotes #empowerment #mindset #knowyourworth #recovery #mindbodysoul #goals

When you’re free from the bondage of insecurity..#truthfultuesday.#Repost @beyondtheinterview with @get_repost・・・True or false? What’s the solution? *this applies for some men too* When another woman is successful, we sometimes fall into the trap of believing the myth that it’s a competition between women—a race for success—and when one woman “wins,” the rest of us lose. We’ve all had this moment; the moment where you know you should be happy for her success but really you’re just feeling resentful and wishing you had that. “Why does she get the promotion/success/looks?” we wonder. We know we should celebrate the accomplishments of other women in our lives, but why is it so hard to do it? Why is it easier to tear each other down rather than build each other up?Another myth we can frequently fall for is that the terms of success are the same for every person. In other words, being successful means having a thriving business, an Instagram-picture-perfect family, and cute clothes (or some version of this). But that’s a fairly narrow definition of success. Success looks very different from person to person. We all have unique stories, specific struggles, and different things that make us happy. Telling yourself that you will be happy once you have the thriving home business, and so on, will only fuel feelings of inadequacy. Tuesday let’s do this 🦋#Repost @beyondtheinterview・・・What brings success in life? LUCK or HARD WORK?One way to answer this question is to say: Luck matters more in an absolute sense and hard work matters more in a relative sense. The absolute view considers your level of success compared to everyone else. What makes someone the best in the world in a particular domain? When viewed at this level, success is nearly always attributable to luck. Even if you make a good initial choice—like Bill Gates choosing to start a computer company—you can’t understand all of the factors that cause world-class outcomes. It's often a combination of the right genes, the right connections, the right timing, and a thousand other influences that nobody is wise enough to predict.Absolute success is luck. Relative success is choices and habits. With a positive slope and enough time and effort, you may even be able to regain the ground that was lost due to bad luck. Tuesday let’s do this 🦋#Repost @beyondtheinterview ・・・ What brings success in life? LUCK or HARD WORK? One way to answer this question is to say: Luck matters more in an absolute sense and hard work matters more in a relative sense. It's often a combination of the right genes, the right connections, the right timing, and a thousand other influences that nobody is wise enough to predict. Absolute success is luck. Relative success is choices and habits. With a positive slope and enough time and effort, you may even be able to regain the ground that was lost due to bad luck. Reposted from @beyondtheinterview (@get_regrann) - [Album]: Does this really shock you? When a child experiences a trauma that teaches him that he cannot trust or rely on a caregiver, he’s likely to believe that the world around him is a scary place and all adults are dangerous—and that makes it incredibly difficult to form relationships throughout their childhood, including with peers their own age, and into the adult years. Some of the causes of childhood trauma include child abuse, neglect, bullying, and sexual assault. Even witnessing these acts can be harmful to a child. There is now evidence suggesting that substance abuse and childhood trauma may be linked. The National Child Traumatic Stress Network reports that a person will begin using substances after they experience trauma 76 percent of the time. A more recent study published in the Journal of Traumatic Stress found that there was a positive correlation between childhood abuse (physical, emotional, and sexual) and adult substance abuse. Specifically, a study of more than 2,000 adults revealed that those who suffered from childhood trauma had a greater chance of abusing drugs and alcohol as adults. Substance abuse is often used as a coping mechanism to deal with painful memories associated with abuse. Using drugs and alcohol is also a way to deal with feelings of loneliness and isolation, improve a sense of self-worth, and to cope with untreated mental health issues such as PTSD, depression, and anxiety. . . . #RussellBrand #childhoodtrauma #trauma #parenting #motherhood #heroin #cocaine #parenthood #addiction #beyondtheinterview #rehab #mentalhealth #addictionrecovery #mentalhealthawareness #sobriety #addict #selfcare #drugs #soberlife #motivation #addicted #passion #mentalillness #drugaddiction #aa #psychology #wshh #worldstar #addictionquotes #drugabuse

[Album: thread]: A little aggressive, but do we agree/disagree? 🤷🏼‍♀️ FYI, it has now been scientifically proven that whether you’re a man or woman, the lonelier you feel, the more likely you are to have depressive symptoms. According to research done at the University of Chicago, when you feel lonely, brain hormones associated with stress (such as cortisol) become active and can cause depression. Those who experience depression can often experience severe, unhealthy weight loss or gain, and a sense of helplessness, which then perpetuates the cycle of isolation. Those who report greater loneliness also perceive social situations as more threatening. Although this may seem odd - you would assume that those who are lonely would take advantage of opportunities to form connections - it's a phenomenon that has roots in evolution. John Cacioppo, director of the Center for Cognitive and Social Neuroscience at the University of Chicago, explained to CityLab that loneliness ups the stakes of social interaction because it motivates you to "repair or replace connections that you feel are threatened or lost," which in turn makes lonely people a lot more sensitive to social information - good and bad. Further, he explains that thanks to an evolutionary bias, humans are often scared of connecting with someone who could turn out to be an enemy. Therefore, Cacioppo says a neural mechanism causes those who are lonely to approach social situations with a heavy dose of doubt. . . . #lonely #sad #alone #love #depressed #depression #sadness #tweets #brokenheart #pain #broken #heartbroken #relationshipgoals #couple #quotes #couplegoals #marriage #relationships #lovequotes #relationshipquotes #relationshipadvice #couplegoals #boyfriend #twitterthread #couples #beyondtheinterview

Is there anything more important than family? Who are your most important family members and why?Being a part of a family is an experience you will never receive in any other place. It’s comfort in a world of uncertainty. It’s a shoulder to lean on. It is a source of joy, happiness, security, peace, and unconditional love. A major source of inspiration in our lives. It’s that warm and fuzzy feeling that no amount of money can buy. Whatever you are today is somehow because of your family. From your very first minute in this world, they have been there by our side.No matter what you think, an undeniable fact is that family is an absolute necessity. We don’t realize this fact until we come across people who have no family of their own and no one to love and support and care for them. That’s when we begin to rethink how lucky we are that we have wonderful parents and siblings to love and support us. And of course, we are grateful to the friends who have somehow become our family......#AdamSandler #beyondtheinterview #familylove #familyfirst #familygoals #familytime #familylife #familyovereverything #worldstar #wshh #bestadvice #businessadvice #lifeadvice #mondaymotivation #haters #struggle #challenge #motivationalquotes #lovequotes #motivation #inspirationalquotes #quoteoftheday #quote #quotestoliveby #inspiration #quotesaboutlife

[Album: advice]: What’s your biggest challenge right now? ⤵️ #KevinHart has had many—both personal and career wise—so he knows a thing or two about overcoming them. During his early days on the comedy circuit, he was greeted by disgruntled patrons who weren't feeling his comedy, and they weren't afraid to show their disapproval. According to The Mind of Marvin blog, Hart's own hometown gave it to him the worst. "People have thrown buffalo wings at me at one point," he said. "I remember one time I got hit in the head with a Lemonhead candy because this guy was so mad at my jokes." He also grew up with a father who was addicted to drugs and was unfaithful to his wife, two setbacks he had to learn from. . . . . . #beyondtheinterview #worldstar #wshh #bestadvice #businessadvice #lifeadvice #mondaymotivation #haters #struggle #challenge #motivationalquotes #lovequotes #motivation #inspirationalquotes #quoteoftheday #quote #quotestoliveby #inspiration #quotesaboutlife #business #entrepreneur #marketing #success #motivation #entrepreneurship #moneyquotes #comic #comedian

[Album: thread]: Is beauty an achievement? Sweet, educated, charitable, talented? If you're a woman, apparently that's not enough. You have to be beautiful. And "beautiful" implies something very, very specific. The perpetuation of this beauty-above-all mentality is astonishing, and it has so clearly become what our culture values most. Now, an obsession with "glam" is propagated by influencers on Instagram. An overwhelming amount of celebrities, models, and reality television stars are posting edited pictures of themselves, giving credit to an unreasonable amount of make-up artists, hair stylists, wardrobe stylists, and clothing companies who endorse them. Even our news anchors are looking prettier and prettier, a testament to how if a woman isn't beautiful, she can't keep an audience's attention. . . . #beyondtheinterview #feminist #feminism #equality #girlpower #women #feminista #feminismo #womenempowerment #lgbt #love #activist #metoo #womensrights #woman #bumble #womenhelpingwomen #pride #feministart #fashionnova #wshh #worldstar #activism #hingepartner #empowerment #intersectionalfeminism #selflove #equalrights
