Yesterday morning around 5 am, I headed down to the Chiricahua Mountains to photograph the snow that fell overnight. I was really excited because for one: I haven't been down there in maybe 2 years and two: I've never seen snow there or pictures of snow over the enormous rock formations for that matter. When I finally got there a couple hours later, the snow as still coming down and there was already about an inch of snow at the visitor center and almost no visibility. To my surprise, the gate to the very top (Massai Point) was closed. I was pretty bummed that I didn't think of that so I waited an hour for the visitor center to open to speak to someone and the ranger said there was about 6 inches of icy snow so the roads would remain closed until they got it plowed. They weren't sure if the road would ever open and to check in around noon so I left and did some backcounty exploring in my 4Runner. When noon came around, I was back at the visitor center and they said they were most likely keeping the road closed but I could hike from the visitor center to the hoodos which would be a 7.5 mile with 1,400 elevation gain starting at 6,000ft. I've done similar hikes before but not with the 30 pounds of gear on my back and with the recent holiday vacations, I'm not in the perfect shape haha. I did it anyways....and wow it really kicked my butt. You can see in the photos below it was totally worth it, though. I spent most the afternoon up there shooting timelapses (coming soon) and exploring until sunset. I hiked back down after sunset and didn't get home until 10pm that evening. It was such a great day and I'm excited to share with you my favorite shots from the adventure. I hope you enjoy them!

Hi guys, just sharing a new image here then I’ll be offline for a while longer. This was a special moment, shared with @marcadamus and family, overlooking the light and land that continuously calls me. Thanks for viewing.
