In 2015 @roseleen reached out to offer me a dream assignment for @natgeo - a story in part of the 100 year anniversary celebrating America’s #NationalParks. The assignment was to document climate change and it’s effects on these fragile ecosystem posing the question; What would Joshua Tree National Park be without Joshua trees? Or Sequoia National Park with no sequoias? Glacier National Park if all the glaciers were gone? These are issues that are presently happening, backed up by hard scientific data and evidence. I spent 10 weeks visiting the diverse parks of the US, talking to climate scientists, park rangers and researchers in search of photos that would help tell this story. Here’s a small carousel from the assignment. Warmest thank you to Sarah Leen for putting her trust in me, @ddimick for incredible guidance and advice, @ianvaso for all his hard work and heavy backpacks full of equipment in often hard working conditions and @sadiequarrier for her editing expertise, creative collaboration, advice and friendship. This assignment opened up my eyes, pushed me creatively and created a fire inside me to tell more stories like this that desperately need told.
